In the early 2000s, my family and I relocated to a small town that seemed to lack salons catering to people of color. After gaining experience at a barber shop/salon for two years, I knew it was time to establish my salon. Following an extensive search for the perfect location, I came across a place that was on the verge of closing down. We decided to move in and renovate the space, but now we faced the task of choosing a name that would truly make us stand out in this predominantly white town.
